Leasing Success Story:

Bathey House

On a forgotten piece of Fairmount Park sits a quirky, little brick building called the “Bathey”. Located on South Ferry Drive, the moth balled pool house, sits mid-way between Ridge Avenue and Kelly Drive.

Over the past two years, the Trust has facilitated a public private partnership between East Falls Development Corporation (EFDC) and Brinton Housing Partners to rehabilitate the building for use as a café, welcome center for East Falls, public bathroom facility and recreational rental outlet. Brinton Housing Partners signed a long term lease with the Trust on April 22, 2009 so watch for construction to start during the next few weeks.

The project was made possible with funding from the Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission, the William Penn Foundation, the City of Philadelphia’s Gap Financing program and a capital investment from Brinton Housing Partners. Many thanks to our partners, EFDC and Brinton Housing Partners for persevering with this important project that will bring much needed amenities to the northern end of East Fairmount Park.
