Abington Orthodox Meetinghouse
Window, Shutter and Porch Conservation
2007-2008
Abington Art Center

This Quaker Meetinghouse is located on Jenkintown Road in Abington Township. The building, built in 1836, stands as a wonderful example of Quaker Meetinghouse architecture that has been little touched since it was first built.

The Trust restored the window sash, frames and shutters on the Meetinghouse in 2007. Windows and shutters were removed from the building, prepped for fresh paint and glazing and re-glazed. The project also included replacement of missing window muntins which were custom milled to match the original, window and shutter hardware repair and the replacement of rotted window sills. Shutters and windows were re-installed and are now operational. In addition to the work on the windows and shutters, the Trust restored all the wooden elements of the front porch and the wooden ventilation doors on the east façade.
